Functions and Duties of the Department of Academic Affairs

(Extracted from the Appendix of Regulations on Organization and Operation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport issued together with Decision No. 258 / QĐ-ĐHGTVT, dated January 21, 2016, of Ho Chi Minh City University City of Transport) 

1. Functions

The Department of Academic Affairs is responsible for assisting President in managing, organizing and carrying out university and college training activities, including setting up content planning, measures for enhancing training quality and managing training activities according to the training Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. 

2. Duties

- Cooperating with faculties in research and recommendation for developing the scale of training majors;

- Coordinating with faculties and the Department of Construction in the modification to contents, training programs, and contents of subjects;

- Developing teaching plans, studying and conditions of facilities, equipment for teaching and learning;

- Organizing and implementing the planning of teaching and learning, urging and examining the implementation of the training plan issued;

- Managing the teaching volumes of faculties, departments and teaching regulations; Organizing contracts of teaching and settlement of the teaching volumes;

- Developing plans for enrolling students on university and college training programs, exams in university;

- Managing students’ learning achievement; Organizing in making a decision on making allowances for students to continuously study, giving students pause and dropping students out of school; Organizing in reviewing and providing certificates as regulations;

- Coordinating with related units to assess the quality of teaching of lecturers;

- Managing records system synchronously on the task of teaching and study managing in the school; saving necessary documents on the task of teaching and study managing; Organizing in fostering professional competence for the academy staff working in faculties and departments;

- Assisting President in reviewing graduation; Organizing the Board of graduation review and degree conferring;

- Coordinating with faculties, the Department of Political Affairs & Student Services and Youth Union to organize contests for students;

- Performing other duties assigned by President.
